Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center just announced that the 2015 Senior Artfest Judge will be Alex Mann. Alex Mann is the curator of American Art for the Chrysler Museum of Art. He has two years of curatorial work at the Museum of Art Rhode Island School of Design. He also served as a guest lecturer and critic for a variety of studio courses and organized exhibitions for the museum’s Department of Prints, Drawings and Photographs. Mann is a specialist in 19th-century American art, and he uses his knowledge and experience to build and reinterpret the Chrysler Museum’s exceptional collection of pre-1945 American art. This will be Alex Mann first year judging Primeplus Senior Artfest, so don’t forget to stop by the exhibit during the month of June to learn which artwork has achieved 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place.
Primeplus Senior Artfest: Celebration of Art and Life, kicks off June 11th. Primeplus has over 250 fabulous works of art from over 80 artists and crafters from South Hampton Roads will be showcased at this event. All participants are aged 50 and up. The exhibit will include a wonderful array of entries in ceramics, painting, mixed media, pottery, photography, sculpture, woodworking, textiles and much, much more!
Artists interested in entering the Senior Artfest can email email@example.com or call 625-5857 by May 22, 2015 for an application. Art Intake will take place the week of May 26th. The Opening Reception is open to the public, will be held on Wednesday, June 11 from 4 – 6 p.m. with entertainment . ArtFest is open for public viewing and purchase of select art from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Visitors are encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice awards. Selected items from the People’s Choice awards will be on exhibit from June 25 to July 23.
