Physical fitness is important, no matter what your age. Toning and lifting exercises can help senior citizens reduce the symptoms and side effects of common age-related conditions, such as arthritis, osteoporosis and diabetes, finds the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Performing different exercises two to three times per week for 15 to 20 minutes each session can help you build muscle, strengthen your bones, maintain range of motion and improve heart health.
